St Paul's Social Club, Spring Grove.
It may not be the real thing but it's just as exciting as being at the races, and it's a great social occasion. Please help us raise money for the projects we support!
On Saturday 2nd of June 2012
3pm. Please come along to the Biennial Mass for the Knights of St Columba to be held at the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King at 3pm.
The Supreme Knight will make a donation for the support of the Columba Chapel, where a book of remembrance is kept for all brothers who have died.
The Columba chapel can easily be found as it is the only one with a door, and there is a tapestry of the late Pope John Paul II hanging above the entrance.
On Saturday 17th of November 2012
3rd to 4th September at Holywell in North Wales.
In Holywell, there is a former convent where, in 2003, The Order of Our Holy Saviour and St Bridget, established a new foundation at Holywell, centred on the former St Winefride’s Pilgrims Rest. The adjoining Ave Maria Hall, which was in ruins was restored and converted as a self contained convent for the community of Sisters.
The adjacent St Winefride’s Pilgrims Rest was modernised to continue improved Guest House accommodation for pilgrims and visitors and offers 31 en suite single rooms; the Sisters will provide an evening meal and bed on Friday 3rd September, breakfast and lunch on Saturday 4th September 2010 at an overall cost of £45 per person.
The legend of St Winefride tells how in 660AD, an enraged local chieftain severed the head of the young Winefride after she spurned his advances, a spring rose from the ground at the spot where her head fell and she was later restored to life by her uncle, St Beuno. The spring became renowned for its healing powers and throughout the centuries and even until today, pilgrims travel here in their thousands from all over the world to bathe in its waters and worship at its shrine that has become known as the Lourdes of Wales, our own parish visited the well in 2008 and found it to be a place of great peace.
Please contact the secretary if you wish to come along: all are welcome for a chance to enjoy fellowship and a chance to get closer to God.
